America’s Wild Azaleas: The Native Beauties That Belong in Your Landscape
Native azaleas are among the most breathtaking—and most overlooked—flowering shrubs in the American landscape. While many yards are filled with imported evergreen varieties, our own native azaleas offer something far more meaningful: seasonal beauty, pollinator power, and a deep connection to place. In this post, we explore all 17–18 species of U.S. native deciduous azaleas, organized by color, region, and habitat needs. Whether you’re a first-time gardener or a seasoned native plant enthusiast, this guide will help you bring the wild beauty of native azaleas home—one bloom at a time.

Nikki’s Plant Love Story
You could say that I have been digging in the dirt my whole life. As soon as I could sit up Mammaw would set us kids in the vegetable garden. She would give us a spoon to dig in the dirt for entertainment while she tended the garden. I have awesome memories of being in the garden with family and friends that visited.

Creating Curb Envy
Creating cub envy does not have to be complicated but can be simple and easy changes!
I helped write an article based on this subject with Verve Creative Magazine. In this article you will gain a few tips and ideas that will work with any landscape and any budget!

Why The Last Frost Matters
In general, we humans like what I call cookie cutter answers(me included!). The last frost date is based on past frost dates. It is better to base the last frost date or safe zone based on the Vernal Equinox or Easter since there is an actual change taking place with the amount of sun. As stated above, once the Vernal Equinox happens temperatures should start to slowly increase.

Talk of the Street
The talk of our tiny county street was my grandmother’s front yard raised bed. The addition of a container to the center of the bed real made a statement!
